A mattress to beat the dust mite!
Anti dust mite mattress are great. The second most prevalent allergen after pollen is the humble dust mite. Dust mites live in our beds settees, carpets, stuffed toys and old clothing. They are not visible to the naked eye and they feed on the dead skin that falls off the bodies of humans and animals and on other organic material. It is the skin and faeces of the dust mite that creates allergic reactions in people. These allergies can be extremely potent and have been known to induce severe asthma attacks.
What can I do about dust mites?
Good practice for everyone is to keep your bedroom clean. Hoover regularly, dust your surfaces, change your bedding once a week and so on. In addition if you think you having particular problems with dust mites then you can use dehumidifier. It has been found that dust mites thrive in warm damp places. You need a warm bedroom obviously but you can get rid of excess moisture by using a dehumidifier.
If you have a regular spring mattress and don’t want to up grade to a memory foam mattress then you do have a dust mite busting option; hypo-allergenic cover sheets. These can be fitted around you mattress to completely enclose it. None go in and none come out.
