So the Deluxe Extra has a thick layer of memory foam. How does that help?

Memory foam works differently to the old fashioned sprung mattresses you are used to. Lie on a sprung mattress and your weight compresses the springs. These springs will then do what springs do best; they will try and bounce back to their original shape. So with your weight pushing the springs down and the same springs trying to push you back up, pressure points from across you body. These tend to be located where your body presses down the most, such as your joints. With this pressure comes aches, pains, tossing, turning and poor sleep. Eventually something will have to give.

Memory foam is different. When you lie on a memory foam mattress the foam reacts in a completely different way to springs. Your body presses down on the foam in the same way it does on a sprung mattress. But the memory foam doesn’t push back. It simply moulds to the shape of your body cradling you into a comfortable night’s sleep. And the best part of memory foam is that it softens more in areas where your body is pressing down the most while remaining firmer when your body needs support offering you the best of both worlds.
